With Father’s Day coming up, I’m excited to be sharing some funny printable father’s day cards for your husband or partner in parenting.
I love a printable card or a hand made card over the store-bought route. I think there’s something so special about homemade gifts and homemade cards and even though printable cards aren’t technically homemade, you take the time to print them off, cut them to size and fold them up and that’s showing a level of care that store-bought card just doesn’t offer.
These happy fathers day cards are created for a dad of younger kids where really- you’re the one gifting your partner a card and gift… not those babies. It would make a great first father’s day card, I think it’s actually perfectly fit for that!
This set of cards are playful and funny and a special way to show them how much you like them as a dad but with a little bit of humour so that sweet note you’re probably going to write on the inside doesn’t feel like overkill. I know a funny father’s day card usually means dad jokes or a funny pun or two, they might get a little ‘ha’ but these will get a big smile. Promise.

I actually created these free printable father’s day cards years ago, back when my own babies were very little. Back when my hand lettering was chicken scratch and even though they weren’t fabulously lettered, this funny father’s day card set has a special place in my heart. The not-so sentimental card is funny and definitely brought a smile to my husband as he read this cute card.
I decided to remake these decidedly awkward father’s day messages for you with my updated hand lettering style but in the name of nostalgia, I’m also keeping the original, less polished father’s day cards for you.
I created these after I fell in love with Emily McDowell’s series of awkward cards. I originally spotted them years ago when I was looking for Valentines Day cards, and knew Father’s Day would be the perfect opportunity to make my own printable father’s day awkward card.
And because I have no shame- I’ll share them here for you to download and gift to your own partner, wishing them an awkward but very happy father’s day 🙂
There are two different phrases in this set, each offered in two different hand lettered styles which means there’s four happy father’s day cards for you to choose from as you pick the perfect card for that awesome dad you get to do life with. They each have slightly different colors but are pretty subtle to suit any of the dads you might be gifting these to. Here’s the special message (ha!) on the front and insides of each of these cards.

To download these free printable awkward Dad’s card set is so simple. To get these directly delivered to your inbox, just enter your email address in the box below and I’ll send you a confirmation email. Clicking the button in the email will open the PDF file up directly.
These four printable cards are in one PDF format document on separate pages, the inside on their own pages too (just print double sided) which makes for 8 pages total.
Some browsers will automatically start a download and in others you will need to right click and select ‘save’ once you’re viewing the document. It should save to your download folder to make them easy to find for printing.
As always, free printables are for personal use only (print for you and all your friends, but don’t sell them, offer them as a download or modify them- questions? Just ask!).
What’s the best way to print free printable cards
You can print free printables any way you like, but I have a couple suggestions to make the most of these father’s day printable cards! While every free printable is different, these ones are mostly pretty basic with a white background. The white background helps save on ink and they’re PDF documents which makes them incredibly easy to print at home or at your local print shop. They will print just like a document, without special settings like a photo.
While you could print these on regular paper, I definitely recommend card stock paper for any card for the best result. I find printing on cardstock not only looks nicer but also looks more like a professional or purchased card. Write your own message on the inside of these cute father’s day cards for a personal touch and you’re good to go!
You can also purchase packs of envelopes affordably so you’re ready to package up any free printable card that you do download and print, but I often just tuck mine in a bag with no envelope to save on paper 🙂
