Happy Father’s Day Banner SVG Free Download

Get ready for Father’s Day with this simple hand lettered banner Father’s Day SVG! This free SVG cut file is perfect to make a banner for a door hanger, wreath, or layered cardstock card.

A few weeks ago I shared a free printable welcome banner for Saint Patrick’s Day on my sister blog and I had so much fun creating that, I decided I’m going to work towards creating versions of that little hand drawn banner for every holiday.

I took it one step further and made it a free SVG file for my crafty friends so you can have a bit more flexibility on what you make with this hand lettered Happy Father’s Day design!

​Instead of just printing it out, this free cut file will let you cut the design out with your Cricut machine or silhouette machine or brother scanncut or… well, whatever your crafting dreams are made out of. And then… You can cut it out of wood (hello Cricut Maker!), heat transfer vinyl, felt, adhesive vinyl, regular cardstock or… well…

You tell me what you have in mind 😉 We like options in our crafting journey!

I did want to show a few examples of simple projects that I think would be so cute for an awesome Father’s Day craft.

First up is this wood sign. This is what originally inspired me making my printable banners. I created a DIY wood sign for my front door wreath a few years back and love this thing. But I know not everyone wants to free hand and cut wood themselves. So this free SVG cut file lets you just upload and cut. Getting the look without the steady hand 😉  

To make this one, you would cut the background out of wood. I love to cut Balsa wood with my Cricut Maker and knife blade. You can see how I cut wood with my Cricut Maker in this tutorial here.

I would then apply the lettering with HTV (heat transfer vinyl, also known as iron on vinyl). You can see how I apply HTV to wood in this tutorial here on my sister site. 

Alternately, you could go fabric with this banner and cut the background out of felt, ironing on HTV. I have used the felt and HTV combo for pennants before and really love the look- see the tutorial for felt and iron on vinyl pennants here! You could stage this overtop of a little dessert bar for Father’s Day or just as a bit of decor for the day.

I really love these little banners as simple ways to add a touch of decor for a holiday without adding any clutter to your home. I’m such a fan of little bits of seasonal decor without clutter– so much so that I’ve written whole blog posts about it on my sister blog 😉

Plus, adding a banner to any old wreath will instantly make it seasonal- such a fun welcome into your home for a special occasion! Who knew a father’s day wreath was a thing and that it could be so darn easy?!

Next up… you know we had to include a layered cardstock card with this Fathers Fay SVG! I would use an adhesive cardstock for the lettering and banner outline for ease, then pop it off the card blank with foam adhesive for some dimension- how cute is this little father’s day card?!

Last little idea but I didn’t have a cake so haven’t shown this one in a photo- is as a cake topper! How cute would this be?! I have a tutorial on cake toppers with your cricut right here!

I made this free SVG file with my fave brush lettered style, it’s modern and playful and perfectly simple. I added a hand drawn banner outline and then

I’ve made it into two separate layers with an offset background so you can easily turn on or off the background in Cricut Design Space (or other design program) if you just want the lettering layer.

How to Download this Free SVG File

To download this happy father’s day free cut file, all you need to do is enter your email address below and have the digital file sent to your inbox. When you click the confirm button on the email you receive, it will open the free download directly.

Some browsers will start instant download immediately, others you’ll need to right click and save. The SVG file is uploaded as a compressed folder or a ‘zip file’. Double click the zipped/compressed folder to ‘unzip’ the digital download and see your SVG file.

Like all instant downloads and free cut files  available on Hand Lettered Printables, this free father’s day SVG file is only free for personal use. Think making projects like signs for your office and decor for your home or church and cards for your DIY father’s day gifts. 

Once the digital files in your downloads folder, you can upload it to your Cricut Design Space, Silhouette studio or whatever cutting machine software you are using. 

This Father’s day design is an SVG format image (scalable vector graphics) which make it SO easy to upload and use in your projects. They really are the easiest way to upload your own assets into Cricut Design Space as the software can read the files and all the details- whether that’s the layers or the transparent background. 

It’s super simple, even for beginner crafters. You can just toggle on and off the background and outline layers if you’re only wanting the hand lettering and not the background for example.

…This would also be SO perfect for scrap booking as photo overlays, just place them like they’re clipart images for digital scrapbooks or cut them out of adhesive cardstock for an easy scrap book element for Father’s Day pages.
