Download this set of free printable camping coloring pages with thick lines and brush lettered phrases to get coloring! Perfect for kids or adults or to bring along on that camping trip for quiet mornings in the great outdoors.
Today I’m sharing a fun set of free camping coloring pages with you! This set is so playful and fun and a really easy set to sit down and color. Last year I created some camping party invitations and I have really loved the playful little tent that I created for that, so I was excited to recreate that design and turn it into a camp coloring page along with some other camping pictures to make a little set we will pack into our camping bin to take along on our next camping trip!
I am envisioning these as a little bit of a quiet morning activity for our happy campers (both young kids and older kids!) and a great way to keep them content a bit longer in the mornings before they wake us up to take them down to the beach! Ha!
It’s also a fun activity to pull out if you get hit with some less than ideal weather and are curled up in cozy tents to hide from the rain or in grandma’s trailer waiting out the wind to get another tube ride in.
And as for me? Well I’m loving the idea of coloring these with a glass of wine under the starry skies or around a roaring campfire, taking on that tent coloring page with some alcohol markers. I also recently purchased these glitter markers which I think will be so pretty for the darker blue in those night skies.

I really love creating a set of coloring pages for an event. Whether it’s a party or an open house or… well, now camping! If your kids are inviting children that don’t all know each other- or if it’s a new group to your home, a coloring sheet or coloring station is a really safe and calming activity for little kids to sit down and take part in.
Honestly, nervous kids of all ages sit down at the coloring station and get busy creating their coloring page and get talking with whoever else is sitting there. I’ve been known to sit down with one of my kiddos or nieces and color with them when the conversations seem like too much or not in my wheelhouse.
Let’s be honest… coloring is just fun for all age groups and there are numerous benefits from stress release to improving focus (in adults) to improved motor skills and color recognition (in kids) and of course… creativity 😉 So much so that it’s often used in occupational therapy now- how cool, right?
While I’ve always done this with kids in mind, recently I have a group of friends who’s gotten really excited about coloring with their alcohol markers. But not those detailed mandala type coloring pages I associate with adult coloring pages. No complex images, just thick chunky lines and simplicity. They’re so relaxing and easy compared to some of the other options out there. I ran with that vibe instead of trying to make these too detailed this time around!
I love how much room there is in this graphic arts world for different styles and preferences and I’m sticking strong with my love for those varied brush lettering style lines- they have such a distinct look. I’m also sticking with my love for hand lettering- I outlined it for these camp coloring sheets so you can color it in instead of just around it like many hand lettered coloring sheets I’ve spotted out there!
These printable coloring sheets are of course, awesome for our camping trailer full of kids on a rainy day, but this is also a great activity for independent work time or morning work for teachers classroom use who are looking for themed fun activities that are easy to pull together last minute.
Even if you’re not heading to the great outdoors with a trunk full of camping gear, these coloring pages are a fun addition to your summer fun at home! My family used to always do backyard campouts, pull out the tent and a sleeping bag to camp in the backyard, we’d bring all sorts of crafts into the tent and use it for days at a time before my dad would tell us to pack up so he could mow the grass.
Set up a camping coloring station:
A coloring station is a really great idea to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome and it’s super easy to setup as well. Just gather some basic coloring supplies like your kids favorite crayons or markers or colored pencils and print off a stack. If you’re creating this for adults, I’m loving how smooth alcohol markers are to play with! I recently found a set of Tombow alcohol ink dual brush pens at the dollar store (whaaat?!) but this set from Amazon is really nice and convenient to pack away.
I always print off way more than we might need which gives us leftovers to for our kids coloring cupboard in our own home after the fact. I like that having more than enough will let kids who feel like they ‘messed up’ start again with a new page without worry and it prevents any arguments about not enough hot cocoa cups to color. It also let’s some of those busy kids take some sheets home if they were too busy partying to color.
There are four different camping themed designs in this free camping-themed packet of coloring pages. I’ve illustrated each with a brush marker style and added outlined hand lettering for a short camping phrase.
- A cozy tent under a night sky with the lettering ‘let’s sleep under the stars’
- A crackling fire with the lettering ‘happy camper’
- A steaming mug of hot cocoa with a mountain scene and the lettering ‘camp vibes’
- A group of evergreen trees with a winding hiking trail and the lettering ‘let’s explore’

What’s the best way to print free printable coloring sheets
You can print free printable coloring sheets any way you like, but I have a couple suggestions to make the most of them! While every free printable is different, these ones are simple 8.5×11″ PDF documents with only black lines for the camping themed illustrations which makes them incredibly easy to print at home or at your local print shop. They will print just like a document, without special settings like a photo.
While you can print these on regular paper (this printable is actually very well suited for that!), if you’re planning to give kids watercolor or acrylic paints, I find printing on cardstock is a good idea as it wont wrinkle with the extra moisture. I also love cardstock for alcohol markers, it just feels smooth and grown up to color on a thicker paper 😉 This also lets you color with more pigmented markers without bleeding through to the surface below.
If you do download and use these… you know I would love to see them in action! Tag me @handletteredprintables on social media or shoot me an email [email protected]!
I hope you have so much fun using these free printable camping coloring pages. If there’s any other fun coloring sheets you’re looking for – let me know! I’m always adding to my list of future blog post ideas!
