It’s that time of year… Valentine’s day is just around the corner and kids (and parents!) everywhere are looking at different valentine designs, choosing the perfect valentines for their school friends. Whether you’re planning in advance or are looking for a last minute valentine for preschool next week… here’s a fun printable valentine card to pair with the rare treat… a candy ring pop.
It’s the perfect small… but awesome… valentine’s gift for kids to share with their little friends. Plus, you can finish this up at the dollar store so it’s affordable too!
I’ve been busy creating printable pack after pack of free themed valentines cards this last week- you can see even more of the printable selection of valentines at the bottom of the post.
While we typically pass on candy valentines at our school’s request, I’m planning to give these ring pop valentine card options to my own kids as a special treat with a small gift (this year it’s slippers!).
Let’s talk ring pops. My kids love these things, we hardly get them, usually just in Easter eggs or if others gift them for special occasions, so to pull them out a bit early? Such a fun valentines treat.
Kids of all ages love a hard candy and a ring pop is so much fun even for older kids, middle school kids and teens. Could we consider these valentines teen printables? Sure! Why not?! 😉
There are affiliate links included in this post where I share links to buy products I’ve used here. Of course, you don’t need to use these to use the free printables, they’re just meant to be helpful 🙂 You can see all of my policies here.
We usually just buy the regular ol’ packs of ring pops from the dollar tree, but if you plan ahead, you can order a bigger pack off of Amazon for a good price. When I was pulling the link for you, I also spotted some heart shaped ring candies! Who knew they make valentine’s day ring candy pops specifically?!
I created these simple printable cards to print three to one page. They’re big enough that you can punch a hole in the card and tie on a ring pop with a small piece of cute baker’s twine or you can tape it right on to the back if you prefer. I just used my favorite… double sided tape to attach these ring pops right to the front of the valentine cards. Since they come in their own little bags, you don’t need to purchase cellophane bags to package your candies up to gift with these printable tags.
Because I love variety, I hand lettered three fun sayings for these free ring pop valentines cards. I also made two different eye-catching colors so your kids will have some fun choosing which to give to each gem of a friend.
The phrases on the cute valentine cards include:
- You’re a gem, valentine
- You shine, valentine
- Have a poppin valentine’s day
These free printable valentine cards are specifically designed for ring pops, but you could definitely mix it up and use them for other little favor gifts for a school valentine’s day party. Ideas? You got it!
Fidget toys to go with the ‘poppin’ valentine’s day one or even pop rocks or rock candy. You can get gem shaped bouncy ball options and I know there’s other gem shaped candies or heart pops or for candy free options, gem shaped erasers or colorful eraser rings. You can get creative here and just use these printable valentines cards as bag toppers or a sweet little tag.
TIP: Get your kids to write the names on the printable gem tags before you package them up with any little Valentine’s day treats to keep them easy to write on.
This is a PDF download you can snag for free below. These are just regular print files so once you’ve printed them out, you just need to cut them to size and assemble. You can use a paper cutter for the straight cuts (dotted lines make it easy to see where to cut! Alternately, you could just use scissors.

What’s the best way to print these free Valentines?
You can print these free valentine’s cards any way you like, but I have a couple suggestions for the best results!
While every free printable is different, these printable cards are simple 8.5×11″ PDF documents which makes them incredibly easy to print at home or at your local print shop. They will print just like a document, without special settings like a photo.
I prefer to print any gift tags or greeting cards like these ring pop valentines on a thick paper like white cardstock (I have this card stock at home right now). They look more professional than regular computer paper and hold up better to being passed out this way, much like a store-bought quality card.
I’ve designed this printable file to be single sided with space for your child (or you!) to write names on the front of the cards. Make sure you select single sided when you send it to print!
This leaves room for you to attach your ring pop to the back of the card or to write a little note or whatever you like there. You can also staple them to a bag easily this way without covering some of your printable.
The background does take quite a bit of color ink so I did make reverse of these cards blank to save on ink if you are using your home printer. Since they do use a little more printer ink, if I were printing off a bunch of these free gem valentine tag printables… I’d send them to the print shop. If I just wanted to print a page or two though, I’d definitely do it at home. There’s really no need for ‘professional’ valentines cards, especially if you’re handing these out as classroom valentines!
You can use a paper cutter instead of scissors for the long straight parts to help the cutting of these files go quickly. We have a slider style paper cutter like this craft one at home that my kids like to use (paper cutters are way more fun than scissors to little hands!). Since the slider doesn’t detach easily and the blade is really tiny, I feel comfortable even letting my small kids use it for this sort of project.
Alright! I’ll leave it at that- I hope that you enjoy these quirky ring pop printables for valentine’s day! It’s such a fun printable classroom valentine card to share this year!
