This ‘book club’ hand lettered SVG design is ready for your book lover craft projects! This free layered SVG cut file is perfect for tote bags, t-shirts and mugs for your book club with 3 layers so you can use the whole design or just the stacked books svg.
Today I’m excited to share this book club SVG file with you! Did you know that February is ‘I love to read month’ AND ‘National Library Lover’s Month’?
In celebration, I’ve teamed up with a couple other SVG designers to share free cut files for your bookish crafting projects! You can see those at the bottom of the post, but first? Let’s take a look at this ‘book club’ hand lettered SVG file with a stack of books that I’m sharing with you!
This file makes for the perfect book club gifts, I’ve shown it here on a mug and t-shirt. A DIY bookmark for all the fellow book lovers in your life would also be adorable… or a tote bag to carry your books and notebook in!
I love the ‘est 2023’ to commemorate the start of a long running book club. You can just add that with font in Cricut Design Space or whatever cutting machine software you’re using- so much more personal!
Personally… I’m obsessed with it for a pocket tee design (cut it small and iron it where a pocket would go for custom t-shirts, then pair it with a larger design on the back!).
I also wanted to show it being used with just the stacked books part of the design. It would make such a great classroom door decoration for reading month or a library bulletin board.
Here I’ve welded (in Cricut design space) the background layer of the cut file to a rounded corner rectangle to make the sign for the teacher’s door. Without the ‘book club’ hand lettering it would also make a rockin’ library tote bag!
No matter how you use it though? Darned cute, I tell ya!
I originally illustrated this book for the printable summer reading tracker I made and then used it again on these free printable bookmarks. I really love how playful these designs are so am excited to turn them into SVG files for your book themed craft projects. I will be making a whole bundle once I have some time later this month- keep your eye out if that’s your thing!
There are three layers to this free book SVG file. The background (color) is one layer, the illustrated stack of books is another layer and the hand lettered ‘book club’ is a third layer. This means you can use different materials super easily as you’re crafting to use up scraps of vinyl and craft supplies for a multicolor type look.
You can also make projects with just one layer of this file like the outline of the books SVG if you prefer (you know that’s always my preference!). Crafty friends, I know you love some versatility 😉

Looking for commercial use SVG files? I’m working on making a full set different book svg files for a mini SVG bundle with PNG files for the designs. It will be available in the next couple of weeks. It comes with limited commercial licensing so you can create market crafts and physical products to sell. The commercial use bundle also includes a PNG file of each design.
Once the digital files in your downloads folder, you can upload it to your Cricut Design Space, Silhouette studio or whatever cutting machine software you are using.
SVG format image (scalable vector graphics) make it SO easy to upload and use in your projects. They really are the easiest way to upload your own designs into Cricut Design Space as the software can read the files and all the details- whether that’s the layers or the transparent background.
It’s super simple, even for beginner crafters. You can just toggle on and off the background and lettering layers if you’re only wanting the books outline like I’ve shown on the t-shirt.
If you’re new to SVG files and wanting to make your t-shirts, mugs or other crafts with these files, you can see a great introduction to uploading your own files to Cricut Design Space here (It also talks about each file type and when to use them!)… honestly it’s full of so much useful information for you to use free files with your cricut machine!
You can also see a tutorial to make a t-shirt with iron on vinyl cut with your Cricut here and which vinyl to use for your craft projects here.
* Are you new to Cricut? Or deciding which machine to buy? I wrote a whole post about the differences between the Cricut machines (Cricut Maker, Cricut Joy, Cricut Explore Air… what’s what?!) RIGHT HERE.
And if you’re looking for more Cricut projects and tutorials with further details, you can find them all here!
